The Libertines Reunion

I love this video from The Libertines reunion 2010 at Reading festival.
They're so funny, Peter and Carl, they don't always seem to be on the same page, it's like Peter does his own thing and Carl is always watching him, trying to keep up and save the situation if Pete messes up. Poor guy must be having flashbacks from old Libertines gigs before kicking Peter out.

This is one of their best songs.

This band right here is the best band of our generation.

Here are the live performance from the festival

 Can't stand me now
They're amazing (obviously) but a bit funny sometimes cause they're not always very synchronized. Like when Peter is singin "I'm still in love with you" Carl is singing "and all these words they aint true"... I wonder if these boys ever rehearsal before gigs. That's what makes them interesting I guess, never the same show twice ;)
Over polished bands are so damn boring.

Music when the lights go out
I love this song!!! But Peter Peter Peter, you can't smoke and play the guitare at the same time dude!!

"..and alarm bells ring when you say your heart still sings when you're with me won't you please forgive me but I no longer hear the music" singing while looking at each other like they're madly in love.. ;)

Don't look back into the sun
OH LET ME GO!!
MY FAVORITE SONG FROM THE LIBERTINES!! It's just AMAZING!!

And maaan look at the crowd, its a freakin full moon party out there!!

Last post on the bugle
"just look out for each other, if anybody goes down make sure you help each other up, don't be standing on each others heads". As good advice as any ;)

Vertigo
Awesome!!!
I love this song! Even though Peter looks a bit confused (?), they nail it!

Lily!

Sun is in the sky oh why oh why would I wanna be anywhere else?

I've been a bit obsessed with this song lately, singing it in my head and very often unintentionally out load, when cycling round London town. This SONG, the big S, Lily Allens' LDN!

It has become my theme song! I posted it on myspace, and also need to post it on "my blog about MUSIC", because this song is the only music I can hear in my head nowadays. These sunny days have broken me, I'm cycling around London singing out loud! Cyling around on my blue Barclay's cycle, from one station to another, all over central London

Riding through the city on my bike all day
Cause the filth took away my license
It doesn't get me down and I feel OK
Cause the sights that I'm seeing are priceless

Everything seems to look as it should
But I wonder what goes on behind doors
A fella looking dapper, but he's sitting with a slapper
Then I see it's a pimp and his crack whore

You might laugh you might frown
Walkin' round London town

the one and only - PETER DOHERTY

So totally unexpected I received an update email from Ents24, about new Peter Doherty tour dates in London. Ok so I thought they were sold out, I bought mine back in January. But no wait, this gig date is new, and it's in 8 days. And it's also an intimate gig, at opening of Heroes Bar in Camden, for only 200 peeps. So tickets to be bought at the door. Hihi.

Fine fine, so unexpected, it almost seemed unreal, and after working for 9 hours, I went to Camden and got in the queue. Hour and a half later we were let in. This is when I first heard there would actually be two more bands before Peter. Great! I guess I'll be a zombie tomorrow at work. Not that I was thinking about that when the last band had gone off.

Standing in the front, my camera ready, Peter stumbled on stage. With a very much Peter Doherty attitude. Almost unaware of the crowd on that little stage with nothing but his guitar, he played his first song "Time for heroes".

He was a bit funny, as usual. You can watch the video clips, he didn't look at the crowd more then twice maybe, which was probably a good thing cause standing so near him was intimidating, I was a bit uncomfortable. There was no distance, just Peter 2 meters away playing some songs I liked. And when he actually did look at the crowd I wasn't sure where to look, it was too intimate if you now what I mean ha ha ha. Maybe it doesn't make sense but I don't mind a bit of distance between my hero and myself ;) Sure I'll chase him down the street like any other, but once catching him up I would probably say something like -Oh I thought you were someone else. Sorry. Have a nice day. Bye bye.
Lame? Yep, I know.

Anyway.. after a while it got really really warm at the venue. Like sweat-dripping-warm. You could see how it bothered Pete, (and) the rest of us obviously. It was getting ridiculous, a girl in front of me actually passed out, that's not very common at small gigs like this. I mean look at the picture, he's so sweaty poor guy.

But other than that it was really nice. I had such a good time. I mean there's only one of him and I love his music a lot. The only way I can listen to his music live is by going to his gigs, which is not too often. Sure it would be a dream to see Libertines on stage, it would be crazy. Libertines are my favorite band through all times, there's nothing I enjoy more then listening to their records, but since I missed their last reunion I'm not too hopeful about new reunions.

But listening to Peter playing old Libertines song is amazing!! And Babyshambles songs I can feel in my bones. Some of Peters own songs are my favorite songs as well, he is an amazing writer and song composer. Words mean everything to me, and I love a song where words are not meaningless and predictable.

There's really not much more to say about this gig, since I captured half of it on video. So enjoy :)
I did.

Walking off the stage people tried to grab him, and he just looked like -Eeiiii please don't touch me, and got past us. I was so shocked. That's how I look when kids with sticky fingers try to touch me. It was so unexpected that I laughed, the look on his face was hilarious as he tried to walk by without anyone touching him. Unbelievable, it just makes me smile every time I think of it. He really surprised me.

But I guess now that he's slowed down, he'll rather keep his distance. Or should I say now that he's gone from Pete to Peter. It's just weird cause he was that guy who'd talk to anyone and hang out with his fans.

I wish I had gone to a Libertines/Babyshambles gig back then! Not so much for Peter but for the music, and everything around it. Just rocking it to Don't look back into the sun or Fuck forever, and Pete's being Pete, crazy, giving his all, which makes him so fascinating.

Florence And The Machine - Cosmic Love

A falling star fell from your heart and landed in my eyes
I screamed aloud, as it tore through them, and now it's left me blind

The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart

And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat
I tried to find the sound
But then, it stopped, and I was in the darkness,
So darkness I became

The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart

I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you

The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart

The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart

Babyshambles 2010 ..reminiscing

Last summer (2010), I remember I had just come back from Peace & Love, tired and worn out, was in need of a good rest! AND then I saw the Arvika festival poster! I stole it and one week later I was at a festival again, this time to see Babyshambles.

I've seen Babyshambles a couple of times before but I've never been in the front, closest to the stage, so since that was the plan I was there early, listening to Volbeat (the band before, not too bad)! Once Volbeat had got off the stage, it got kinda ugly, a lot of girls fighting over the best spot! And then an hour wait to see if Peter would show up. Ten minutes after schedule he and his band got on stage and everyone went completely mental!

Here are some pics and videos from the gig!

After playing most of the songs from Shotter's Nation and the usual from Down in Albion, Fuck Forever, Albion and of course What Katy did. But only because between the songs everyone kept singing "shoop shoop shoop de-lang-a-lang.." every time, so it was pretty much unavoidable.

Peter always seems so distant and dreamy on stage. Like he's totally in his own world. At least I thought he was until they carried out a guy from the crowd who had fainted, and Peter looked quite upset about it... who would've known.

So a little later, much too soon, Babyshambles got off stage. And that would've been unforgivable if they hadn't come back on, cause we wanted MORE! But they started taking down the stage.. "What the fuck?" Was my first thought, especially cause Peter had come back on and was as puzzled as the rest of us. Denied to play more song, they told him to go. But he grabbed a mic and said that the police were waiting for him backstage to take him in for a blood test. He was upset about it, and every time he tried saying something the crowd went crazy so he kept schhh-ing and telling everyone to listen.  "..this is your country right - listen listen listen listen listen, this is you country right, we come here to play some songs......does anybody got a car?

Defeated he sat down on the stage, and standing in the front when this happened meant that you'd be more crushed then before. Everybody wanted to come as near him as possible so the crowd just pushed like hell from the right. But since I were stuck, I thought I might as well take more pics, which I did.

But it wasn't fair to be treated like that. I mean he behaved this time! He was all dressed up, he didn't strip once, didn't kick down the mic stands, didn't break anything on stage, didn't even throw the mic at the photographers! The police didn't have any reason to get provoked by him.

He got up a last time to talk to the crowd but the mics were switched off. Sorry Pete, but some people just love hating you. I loved that line "does anybody have a car?" Like "Ok Peter, you wait here, I'm just gonna go start my Ford Mondeo -94, and we'll meet on the main road in 10 minutes. I'll slow down just so you can jump in!"
